Church after the Heart of God

How lovely is your dwelling-place, O Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. Psalm 84:1-2

Zealous Worship

Jesus was enjoying lunch with friends in Bethany. "Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages. ” (John 12:3-5)  He rebuked her harshly. There are many things that are unhealthy and even dangerous to be
zealous about. But there is one thing that is never wrong to be zealous and passionate about and that is worshipping Jesus. Our whole being thrives when we worship our creator as we were made for worship. We can be unashamedly hungry for God's presence
because it is in Him we live and move and have our being (Acts17:28) Thankfully being zealous for Jesus and His kingdom doesn’t mean we’re going to blow anyone up, use violence or force but if our hearts are being shaped by His Spirit of truth and love, it should only make us better people. Catching the loving, pure, wholesome heart of the Father God changes us for the better and
enables us to make a positive impact on our world.

Worship is never wasted time

"Leave her alone," said Jesus. "Why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful thing to me. The poor you will always be with you, and you can help them any time you want. But you will not always have me." (Mark 14:4-7) It cost her, it was a sacrifice, it was purely an act of adoration and worship. That must have been a special moment for Jesus, He described it as beautiful. He looks at your open hearted worship and says “that’s beautiful”. The answer for bringing the Kingdom into our world isn’t better
programmes or the latest Christian phase. The answer first and foremost is getting more of God; more of God in our lives, more of God in our work place, more of God in our homes, more of God in our church services. It does cost in terms of time, energy and other ways but every choice we make to worship is honoured, beautiful to God and makes a difference.

Come as His child
There's a moving story a father tells of how he remembers hugging his daughter and her often imploring in a sweet little voice, “longer Daddy longer”. Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." (Matthew 19:14) Everyone, whether you are a big strong man or an accomplished woman, needs hugs from Father God regularly. This happens as we come and simply spend time in His presence with no agenda but to simply be with Him.
Children are also spoken of as representing simplicity and humility. We don't have to try to be cool, religious, or sophisticated with God. You are God’s child, just come to him with the simplicity and humility of a child.

God is passionate about people
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7) Love comes from God, draw near to God, spend time with God and you will catch His heart for people. As we press into Gods presence it will draw unbelievers to Him. As we honour the presence God we are easily able to flow with the Holy Spirit and see the supernatural released into situations. Seeing peace, healing, strength, miracles, words of knowledge released is a simple overflow of our worship.
May we all truly become a church after the heart of God.
With our love and prayers
