Prayer Breakthrough

"The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. ” James 5: 16

Prayer that Avails Much
Perhaps this side of eternity we will never fully see the power of prayer in the unseen realm. ‘The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.’ (James 5:16) In Elijah’s case it released rain back to a drought ridden nation. So powerful is the place of prayer that the Father will avert judgement if there is one person who can stand before Him in intercession. (Eze 22:30). Derek Prince shares how during a time of tense transition in the government while he was based in Kenya, he and others fasted and prayed. As a result a transition that could have been a blood bath, went through with little unrest. Praying Hyde and others were pivotal in their intercession in protecting freedom in the UK during the Second World War. The more we have grown and developed, more we see how vital the unseen power of prayer is for the church, this city and the wider nation and nations.

Much, much More

Prayer is so rewarded. Jesus made that so abundantly clear, ‘ The Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.’ (Matt 6:6) He loves it when we come to Him in the secret place. So many try to push themselves forward, trying to force the hand of man, not realising real promotion comes from the Father. The great faith chapter in Hebrews states that seeking Him and believing in His goodness is foundational; ‘He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.’ (Heb 11:6) Sometimes I wonder how much of His goodness we miss out on because we don’t fully believe in His desire to really bless us and truly seek Him diligently. Paul is almost lost for words when he describes the heart of God to bless, ‘He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we can ask or imagine’ (Eph 3:20) There is much favour the Father longs to pour upon His children.

The current Call to Prayer

There has been an increasing interest in prayer in recent days. Many new prayer movements and initiatives have been born. There is so much destiny and purpose to be unfolded in these days, however it’s as we set our hearts on Him and really seek Him that these will be fully released. This month we have Corey Russell, a prayer revivalist from IHOP Kansas coming to CCC. He carries a passion to seek the heart of God. We want to encourage everyone to give over the whole weekend to prayer and seeking His face. We believe this will be a time of radical transformation in all our lives.

May we all breakthrough together.
